Statement of responsibility

We are glad that you have decided on activities and sports related to such noble animals as horses. Before you actively start a riding school or other activities that involve handling a horse, we need to familiarize you with certain characteristics of horses and rules.

CHARACTERISTICS OF HORSES

Horses are large animals and can weigh up to 800 kilograms. They can also measure more than 170 centimeters in height (at the withers). However, as herbivores in the wild, they have always been prey for carnivores. Therefore, they are very sensitive, cautious, and can also be timid. Despite the long tradition of serving man and the resulting training and selection, they still possess some of these behaviors that defended them from the enemy. It is important for anyone who comes into contact with horses to be aware of their nature. Therefore, despite the training and character suitability for teaching riding and working with horses, situations may occur that the riding instructor cannot foresee.

LEARNING RIDING AND OTHER HORSE ACTIVITIES

• We use properly trained horses that have character and behavior suitable for such work.
• Because horses are living creatures, they can, despite their suitability for working with beginners and other candidates, react and behave unpredictably.
• Because of their primal nature, they can become frightened or startled, jumping, running, or performing other unpredictable movements. Occasionally, the candidate may fall from the horse, or suffer a blow, kick, or jolt, which may result in minor or major injuries. They can behave and react unpredictably even in familiar surroundings or situations.
• Lighter or more serious injuries can also occur during the teaching or training process. For example, due to a loss of balance or rhythm, when jumping over obstacles, when caring for and preparing a horse, the horse can trip the candidate, when riding in the field, etc.
• In intensive and advanced training, falls from horses are an integral part of training and participation in this sport, both recreationally and at more advanced levels (participation in competitions).
• A certain appropriate psychophysical fitness is required, as riding is a sport. This is strengthened through the process of practice and learning.
• Information about any diseases, injuries and special conditions related to the skeleton, muscles, nervous system, other parts of the body or motor skills, coordination, or anything else, must be shared with the instructor.
• There will be a riding instructor who has a certified license from the Equestrian Association of Slovenia or who has passed the National Professional Qualification or an assistant who is qualified to work with responsible persons.
• The props, equipment and infrastructure used are suitable and professionally intended for teaching riding and what the horses are used to.
• The candidate must always follow the instructions of the instructor and adhere to the rules of conduct.
